Pros

Can get paid the same amount to simply show up as you can to work. If you lack a moral compass or can turn your head from unethical business practice this is the place for you. Is not an 'all for one' company. Is an 'every man for himself' type culture.

Cons

No value of employees Overworked Undervalued Not respected Required to work random night/day and weekend hours leaving you little to no sleep often and making it hard on any family life you have No matter how long you work for this company or how much of a company man you are, in the end, you will be reminded you are disposable. Employees that are loyal and dedicated to this company will not get that same loyalty or respect in the end. Employees that are a sure thing to have to deal with are the just 'coast through' ones. Those employees are much higher in number causing every day to be that much more difficult for employees who actually give it their all while working. Guaranteed to have more stressful situations days than not. Understaffed shifts more than ones with appropriate coverage. often many of the shifts have blind management. Lacking the knowledge/ actions/efforts applied to be properly managing by training, teaching and observating each employee on a 'person to person level.' Missed opportunities for each employee to be able to deliver their best and achieve their highest potential due to complete lack of consistent, equal and measurable documentation. No inforced support to ensure company incentives are being followed consistently and correctly by each store. No tracking required/inforced by each stores management team to be correctly monitoring employees day to day/over time personal progress development. No clear and consistent measuring of performance each day for members of management in their particular role. Ex: starting with SFL'S and working your way up the ladder Lacking direction and accountability with each employee, causing them to easily not claim responsibility and blame others for actions, performance and progress within the store. I've witnessed good hard working employees time and time again held responsible for situations that arose simply because the people above them didn't understand and lacked the knowledge to know what was. I've also witnessed employees that aren't personally providing the minimum required, get away with it often it's allowed to go on for far to long. I loved this job but with each call being made by corporate/store level throughout the years I have lost all respect for this company. It's sad to see the employees just roll with each judgement call no matter how morally wrong it may be, as long as it's not them it's happening to. Keeping your mouth zipped may keep them their jobs for the time being but eventually you will be the one on the chopping block. People need to start speaking their truth and refuse to allow unethical calls to continue while other sit back and watch. This company may of grown to be big and hit massive revenue but at what cost? When a company chooses unethical directions, it may climb high for the moment being but in the end, the corruption will be the end of it. I believe in being good, honest and valuing others. I can in no way support or work for walgreens any longer due to actions seen by myself that consistently go against my beliefs.

Pros

The first store I worked at was the best job I've ever had. The team was like a family and they all worked hard to make sure everyone got the help they needed even if it wasn't in their department. The management was awesome and even after leaving the job I stayed in contact with them. The customers were better here than most places in retail. The customers are loyal to the company so you see a lot of the same people every day and really get to know them. I worked in the beauty department and as a beauty advisor we got free samples all of the time, sometimes even full size samples for free. It was very manageable since the store was small and there were not many employees, making it a good place to start out. You will almost always work your assigned hours and hardly ever stay passed your time, especially if you work at a 24 hour store, because they have strict policies against over time.

Cons

I've worked at multiple stores for Walgreens and noticed one thing they all had in common. They are very poor at training new employees. They do throw new employees in before they are ready to be on their own making it overwhelming for new people. However, if you have a good team in management it is going to be ok because they will help you every step of the way. They also understaff the pharmacy for the volume of customers they receive and even if you do not work in the pharmacy you will feel the effects of this in the form of customer complaints or lack of help in the front end of the store while back up is sent to pharmacy. If you want over time you can't get it, wasn't a problem for me but it could be for someone else.
