When I finally make a mistake that results in patient harm, or worse -- how will I explain my actions to the judge? To the patient? To their family? Oh, I know. I will just say, "My supervisor told me I need to PUT DOWN WHATEVER IT IS I AM WORKING ON to walk over to the counter and run the register, an interruption which distracted me from the penicillin allergy in their profile... ." Ridiculous. Patient safety? That is not #1. "CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NUMBER ONE" my supervisor told me. He knows he will not be the one on trial.
This is not healthcare, folks. Working at retail pharmacy is Russian roulette, not a matter of if but WHEN.
