Pros

Good commute for living in the suburbs. Love the Healthy Living Center on campus ($5 copays for the doctor, physical therapy, pharmacy, work out facility, massage therapist, etc). Good benefits and salary. Main Deerfield campus has nice, updated facilities.

Cons

Not much job security as more departments are turning to outside contractors and consultants. Not the best HR staff. Lack of leadership and mentoring in some departments. IT support and innovation seems to be behind the times (just got wifi in some of the corp buildings, can't print wirelessly or in other departments, etc). Senior Management is trying to emphasize culture and values but it's hard to believe in and live out with some of the decisions being made from the top down. 40hr work week has disappeared.

Pros

Have had some very nice co-workers over the years. This was once a very stable and happy place to work. Since the initiation of Rewire for Growth, which is just a nice way of saying that there will be terminations, it hasn't been the same.

Cons

Extremely low morale in the IT area. Unstable environment with upper management continually changing directions with outsourcing, off-shoring and reductions in force. Very unhappy environment for employees over the last 5+ years and steadily declining. It may just be the nature of the field now, but what was supposed to promote collaboration and streamline projects has only added extra layers of bureaucracy and created an incredibly toxic work environment. There is very little incentive, other than having a job, to continue employment.

Pros

Good benefits. My boss really does care about my well being. I am told how much I am appreciated.

Cons

pay. Hard to get someone fired from Walgreens unless they steal or fail a drug test.
