Pros

Benefits are great, they pay on average over $3 to ever $1 you invest in profit sharing retirement. There is excellent advancement opportunities if you work hard and shine in your current position. They probably allow more flexability for there management staff to manage then most companies. Great potential to earn a very good bonus for store managers I have known some store managers earn as high as $60,000 just in bonus which is paid out once a year usually march for previous year. Very affordable health and dental insurance choices for you and your family. They offer you decent amount of payroll hours to run your store on average non 24 hour store has 550 hours and 24 hour stores as high as 1000 hours per week.

Cons

Alot of pressure from corporate, they do expect you to drop what you are doing at a minutes notice to make changes in the store. You may have to work very long hours if you have anyone visiting from corporate and the District staff is always way over stressed during these visits. I actually enjoyed my job more as a assistant manager or executive assistant more then a store manager. Reason is once you are in the store management position its like walking on egg shells every day for fear of losing your job. Walgreens is a very conservative company and you always need to cover your back...

Pros

Very stable company, Good pay, good benefits and overall do your job and you are left alone. Depending on your boss, if you give 100% effort you will be taken care of. Of all my walgreen bosses I only had one who was truly clueless of what happened in the stores.

Cons

Company seems to be stumbling at the top. Once you work in the inner city they keep you there. You feel trapped. Not enough feedback from district manager. With the growth the last few years they have people in positions that have no business being there. That starts from the top all the way down to store managers. If you do not have a college degree you will be left behind. No matter how good you are at your job. They would rather have a mediocre college grad than a spectacular non college grad?????

Pros

Some Store Managers are great to work for it depends on the person and how they communicate with us employees.

Cons

As an Assistant Manager your have to work were they say you have to work. Which means you will never be close to home. Assistants get transferd all over the place you may drive by 6 different Walgreens before you get to work. Also the hours you work will never be great some nights you may only get about 4 hours sleep before you have to get up and go to work. Also you are not just a Manager you are a Janitor, Grounds keeper, Maid Service, Stock boy .. basicly a slave for your paycheck. Also open all hoildays so just forget about family life.
