Pros

Walgreens paid reasonably well for store management. Benefits were decent. As a store manager, you had the ability to run your own business to a certain degree. Bonuses were good, but they have lowered those tremendously.

Cons

You had to live at the store during the holidays. Poor communication from senior management. Micromanaging from district managers. Too much politics in the workplace. Lowering the bonus structure has the effect of lowering our salaries overall.

Pros

Great pay-but be prepared to work your butt off and have no family time. I worked 65 plus hours a week and was let go because of an hour discrepancy.

Cons

There is no ethics or morality in this market.........hard work, dedication and loyalty to the company mean nothing.......too many cliques. Budget cut backs only hurt customer service....you can't service your customers when you don't have any help on the floor or the store manager is back in the pharmacy helping because they are short-handed. They expect you do something with nothing.Numbers, Numbers, Numbers.......that's all they are interested in.

Pros

Top reasons to work at Walgreens are Pay, Benifits and Advancement. If you put in the hours, perform the tasking, get others to work together you will definately advance in the company. If you have no desire to advance and want to stay in a non-management position your pay will not be great but the benifits are still awsome.

Cons

The down side of Walgreens is working crazy hours -days, nights, weekends and holidays. Working under staffed. Always having to do extra work when company "big wigs" are in town (which is often) because of fear of loosing your job. You have to play the game. When VP's visit the stores they say they want to see how the stores operate on a normal day to day basis. But, what they actualy see is the "visitor" presentation of the store. Everyone knows this but you have to play the game. I guess it works in a way because those managers that can't get the "visitor" presentation pulled together don't last with the company.
