Pros

Most positions offer a good degree of flexibility in terms of hours, and since Walmart has a policy to promote from within first, there are many opportunities for advancement for those that perform. There is a lot of opportunity if you look beyond your job description.

Cons

Pay is based on experience and education, and is very quantified when calculated. It is also comparable to other retailers. Benefits do seem to favor salaried management... this could be a motivating factor for those looking to move ahead.

Pros

Consistent work for the majority of the time. It isn't hard to get promoted if you try to. The associates are usually easy to get along with.

Cons

Management has rampant mis-communication and bad organization more than should be tolerable. The pay at an hourly level is low at all seven grades. Hard work usually goes unappreciated.
