Pros

Walmart is great for career advancement opportunities. I started as a cashier and in two months I was the front end supervisor. After a little more than a year I became a salaried member of Asset Protection.

Cons

Walmart is a very negative place to work. Be prepared to deal with all sorts of terrible customers and wear a smile while doing it. I have delt with people beating their children while in the check out, drunks, meth heads, to people who just want to be mean and nasty. The sheer volume which a supercenter has to deal with makes management negligent to very important issues. The fact that Walmart allows anyone to move up very quickly that can say and do the right things means that not always the best preforming associates get promoted which means that management and supervisory are often times incapable of executing their jobs... which will eventually affect your job preformance in some way. The last important con about working for Walmart is that this company, regarless of its immense wealth, power, and status needs to invest in its systems. Walmart lacks modern computers which causes major systems issues which is fustrating to deal with on a daily basis as an employee. Add volume to the issue you can pretty much expect to deal with fustration on an hour-hour basis.
