Pros

I would if I could think of any.

Cons

Do not believe any of the hype you read or hear about Wegmans Markets. They opperate the same way Wal-Mart does. Full time status has to be earned. It does not matter how many years experiance you have or how qualified you are at your job you may work 15 years or more and never be anything more than part time. It is constantly push.push, push and the more you do the more they want, usually for minimum wage. Tehy are constantly on the Forbes list of best places to work. Where they get that information must be from coporate employees because you will never hear it from the peons themselves. You may be ina department where the Mother or Father is the boss of one of thier children and believe me favortisim is evident and you end up doing all the grunt work. The head of Human Resources at the store level can be someone who worked in the seafood department and has no training. It is ridiculous how they can try to brainwash the public into how wonderful they are. A pig dressed in a tuxedo is still a pig. Don't bother with this company unless you don't mid being used.

Stay Away from the Merchandising Departments

Pros

The store itself is beautiful and fun to shop it. The produce is excellent and the perishable departments are the highlight of the store.

Cons

If you enjoy working with others and working as a team, then the Merchandising side of the store is one to avoid. These departments include Grocery, Dairy, Frozen Foods, General Merchandise, Nature's Marketplace and Health & Beauty Care. If you work in these departments, prepare to work alone 75-80% of the time. The irony is that Wegmans is famous for a supposedly friendly, caring environment, yet management forbids employees to work together. Their reasoning is that the employees will talk to each other, getting less work done. In my experience, employees tend to accomplish much more when working together with someone, because work becomes more enjoyable and you tend to have more energy to get the work done. How can employees give their best customer service when they are spending 6-7 hours working in isolation? It's a very boring and often times, very lonely experience.

Pros

1. The workers and customers are generally friendly people. 2. Pay is on average higher than similar jobs in the industry.

Cons

1. Non-performance based pay. (i.e.-people making the same money who have different responsibilities.) 2. Working hours are all over the place. Also, some departments allow their workers off occasional weekends while others don't at all. To get a Saturday or Sunday off can be a real pain.
