Glass Ceiling

Pros

The only reason to work at WF is for the benefits. The PTO, legal insurance, STD / LTD (if you should ever need it), maternity / paternity leave and health insurance are top tier in comparison to other banks.

Cons

If you’re looking for growth opportunities and for leadership to care about your professional development, WF is not the place to be. They like for great talent to be comfortable and complacent. There’s a glass ceiling for retail associates. You see other lines of businesses investing in their talent, but branch associates are definitely stuck and stressed. A frequent complaint is that associates get interviewed, but never get the job. The new staffing models make branch life difficult. Minimal associates in the branch… if one person calls out, the day will be insane because most likely someone else has approved PTO or LOA, so there’s only 3 people working for the day.

Pros

- Flex schedule depending on department

Cons

- No defined path for advancement - Annual review raise are minimal and there is no consideration or adjustments to account for cost of living. - 401k matching process does not fully benefit employees (ask if applying) - Removed tools that helped employees understand job families and pay scales reducing visibility on career paths and pay negotiations.

Pros

Medical insurance, 401k matching, paid holidays.

Cons

Not replacing team members when they leave, making the rest of the branch take on the work load and not give anymore compensation for it. Giving team memebers who were walking through the door the same pay you were making as a 6 year employee. Starting to become more sales driven. Back in 2017 they did away with everything sales related and just focused on the customer experience. They slowly started “conversations” and just playing it off like they just wanted us to “talk” to the customers. Even though we were giving coachings and goals for these “conversations”.by the time I left I was so incredibly burnt out. My branch was so busy (and I had worked at a lot of branches in my 6 years). It was constant. Most of the time I would be by myself and couldn’t even use the bathroom unless I left the line empty. After I’ve left Wells Fargo my stress level is night and day difference.
