Pros

The banking and loan options for employees are really good. There were several good options for medical care, as well as optional dental and vision coverage. Also, the company has pretty advanced technologies for managing customer accounts and identification, making a teller job easier than many other places. However, this makes many elderly customers uneasy, causing complaints. This will probably be the case in many customer-service jobs though.

Cons

The management team I had was very passive and lacking in ways to motivate their employees. Giving away prizes (e.g. baseball tickets) is great, but when management gives you insanely unrealistic goals, who cares? The training was extensive, but many employees, myself included, get thrown to the wolves, waiting months before attending a teller class. This is a bank, where people manage money, especially cash. Training should be the number one priority upon hiring a teller. This is NOT always the case at Wells Fargo.

Pros

For the most part the group I work in is very team oriented. Of all the managers in my department I do have the best one. There have been a lot of upgrades and automations and management has worked hard to keep every position on the floor and ensured that no one was laid off.

Cons

Absolutely NO recognition for anything. Management believes it’s up to your co-workers to acknowledge and reward your hard work instead of them, which makes for low morale. In my department there is a lot of favoritism by the managers and they make it extremely obvious. Upper management is extremely unapproachable. I once got in trouble for asking for help and quickly found out that the "open door" policy was quickly shut on me. There is a lot of office politics.

Pros

Opportunities abound, committment to diversity, and people make Wells Fargo a great place to start your career. Simply express your desire to pursue a certain career path and managers are happy to assist. Multiple company opportunities are presented to improve your personal skills.

Cons

The size of the company and corporate bureaucracy make it difficult to impact change. Simple solutions unfortunately take months and sometimes years of "meetings and approvals" before significant changes can be made to improve business practices.
