Pros

- Diverse - Fast-moving, complex business - Some good, smart people - Could have strong potential for social impact

Cons

- Management has lost the plot; stagnant stock price - Constant transformation - Annual layoffs for last 7+ years - Move toward flatter structure leaves fewer opportunities to advance; means that good senior people are being let go - Too many HR programs and demands; no consistency or strategy - No work-life balance - Culture seems nicey-nice on the surface, but leads to back-channeling / back-biting - Too many silos, lack of alignment on how things get done - Real gender issues that they are glossing over with a few new campaigns - No longer investing in social impact / community in any real way

Pros

Great brand name to work for. People are genuinely decent and there is great diversity.

Cons

Some of their wholly owned subsidiaries are not a priority and are run by managers that are junior in nature.

We appreciate you mentioning the people at WU as one of the "pros." Our extremely global workforce of talented people is one of our strongest selling points as an employer. Regarding your comments about subsidiaries, we are continually weighing risks and opportunities for the future of our business. We are also always looking for opportunities to set people up for success in their career development. While the process definitely isn't perfect, we try to provide growth/stretch opportunities for individuals, while also ensuring the amount of "stretch" is not too much.

We are glad to have you on the WU team. The purpose driven aspect of what we do definitely resonates with people working here. Once you join the company and see firsthand how much people rely on our services (for education, housing, medical services, etc.), the "moving money for better" tagline becomes real. Good call-out on the long-term vision. Please continue to reinforce a long-term perspective on your team at WU, and let others know if you feel areas drift too much into short-term thinking.
