Overarching goal great, however dated institution slow to adapt and poor incentives to innovate.

The objectives of the work and the substance of the work involved. The salary and job security.

Cons

Highly hierarchical and outdated processes. Still predominantly male orientated culture. Resistance to change and an attitude where value is placed more on who is forwarding ideas versus what is being forwarded. Little opportunities to advance and take on leadership positions.

Pros

People are very diverse because they are from all over the world. The work culture is pretty laid back...I like my job at the world bank though.

Cons

The bank itself is pretty bureaucratic. After all, it is an international government agency. If you don't like the laid-back culture, it is certainly not a good fit.
