Pros

An HSA card that I got to leave with.

Cons

A hollow, soulless widget factory. Working at worthington was one of the darkest periods of my life. An unstable schedule (“rotating” unless the suddenly decide to switch the rotation up, move you to a different shift without your input, or they need you to cover someone who finally got fed up), aggressive anti-organizing policies, a corporate culture that touts caring about employees the same way McDonald’s cares about heart disease & clashes with the well established, equally abhorrent good ol’ boy attitude of the guys who’ve been on the floor since Reagan was in office. They actively dissuade employees from trying to seek other opportunities, pushing a narrative that working for the company is the only thing anyone could ever possibly need. The work environment is somehow a mix of extreme stress and total, soul crushing banality. Most of the floor employees know it’s a sham and will commiserate with you, while upper management is dedicated to holding the corporate line. Profit sharing is touted as a big plus and a reason they don’t pay competitive wages with other regional unionized steel producers, but the internal mechanizations that dictate the quarterly bonus basically come out to a betting game played by upper management. Lastly, they really try to sell you in their health plan but the deductible is $3k. Total garbage.

Pros

The money is good however, if you like working all week long and every other weekend.

Cons

Terrible management, terrible communication. Safety is not placed before production no matter how many times they say it is. Management is a social club and they conspire against hourly union employees. Their open-door policy is a joke. They have a “Golden Rule” for a company philosophy however, management is hypocritical of this. If you’re smart, you’re a threat and they will conspire and terminate you. Good ideas by hourly employees are overlooked because the ideas didn’t come from management or management’s favored employees.
