Pros

* A few pockets of innovative technology left * Decent health benefits and vacation time * Many people work from home regularly

Cons

* Since 2016-17, ams focuses on near-term strategies. Big projects started, and when it appears that development/sales won’t be as easy as we thought, we scale down or cancel the projects, a few people get fired, and then we repeat the cycle. * Top management doesn’t want to discuss strategy--you do what you're told, or you can find a new job. Too many VPs and directors adding nothing. Middle/lower managers may know a strategy is unwise, but most will follow it out of fear for their jobs. * Negotiate your base salary well because that’s the only thing you can count on. Bonuses, raises, 401k matching have been drastically lowered or eliminated.

Pros

Some very talented technical staff are still around while they are pushed out the door Opportunity to develop skills since you will be expected to carry the weight of incompetent management and staff Great place if you want to do nothing and collect a paycheck Good motivation to separate sense of personal achievement from your professional work life since your career will wither Good work/life balance, the place is a ghost town after 3pm or on Fridays and you can come in as late as you want because management isn't there either

Cons

Management is awful and short sighted - if it isn't the way it's currently done then it's clearly not a good idea The only ideas supported are those that management comes up with Non-competitive salary with no incentive structure and profit sharing that depend on success that will never be achieved (no bonus) It is impossible to get even simple experiments done - things get lost or mishandled all the time There is little to no money available for the investments, equipment, and headcount needed for real improvements or success They did an internal poll for morale and found management rated terribly, so their solution was to get worse and no longer poll for opinions

Dear former colleague, Thank you for taking the time to review your former position as engineer at ams OSRAM in Exeter, New Hampshire. We appreciate your recognition of the talented technical staff and the opportunities for skill development. However, we are deeply concerned about the challenges you've highlighted, especially regarding management, salary structure, and operational efficiency. This, as well as your description of the office situation and the general atmosphere are aspects we aim to improve going forward. We value clear and direct communication, and genuinely believe in creating a conducive and rewarding atmosphere for all our employees. As we continuously aim to enhance our work environment and address areas of concern, your critique and proposal are invaluable to us. For any further feedback or detailed discussions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me: Katrin.Klug-Jud@ams-osram.com. We wish you all the best for your future! Kind regards, Katrin Klug-Jud HR Communication / Social Media Manager

Pros

Decent salary. Only pro pointer

Cons

1. Take the recent 2020 reviews on the company with a pinch of salt. 2019 reviews are more reflective of the company culture and environment. I heard that they get their internal staff to file bogus positive reviews to 'boost' their reputation. Looks like 1 of local HR's 'KPI'. It says a lot if ams has to resort to this to up their 'street cred'. Senior management, if you are reading this, please investigate this allegations. 2. Attrition rate is notoriously high in some departments like HR and Finance. Even during covid! People rather leave than stay in toxic environment. Ask your friends who are ex-employees of this company. DYODD. 3. People are afraid of answering truthfully in surveys in case they are marked down. It has heppend before. 4. Hire a lot of incompetent people due to 'connections' in HR. In our ops team, we label HR as mini STATs. because half came from there. Please check. How many are from ex company and how many have the requisite experience to actually do the job, Senior management, open your eyes and the truth will prevail. 5. Join at your own risk.
