I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Portland, OR) in Jan 2025
Interview
An online assessment including a demonstration of skills and leadership assessment, 30 minute screening interview, written assignment, then an approximately 4 hour "loop" interview with 4 different interviewers. The whole interview process is very focused on behavioral questions like "tell me about a time when you..." They emphasize using STAR to answer all questions. Very transparent process with a great deal of support and resources available.

Tell me about a time you made a decision without consulting with your manager.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Jan 2025
Interview
The hiring manager started the interview by asking, "Do you know how the interview process for this position works?" but didn’t provide any explanation before jumping straight into the questions. When I was in the middle of answering the "Tell me about yourself" question, she interrupted and said, "I don't need to hear the rest; let's move on to the questions." Throughout the interview, she repeatedly interrupted while I was responding, making the conversation feel rushed and impersonal.
Amazon emphasizes its Leadership Principles, but what about the company’s core values? The interview process should reflect those values by fostering an environment of respect, active listening, and thorough evaluation. Unfortunately, this experience felt transactional rather than aligned with Amazon’s culture.
