I applied through college or university. I interviewed at American Express
Interview
Met them at the University Career Fair. Got an on campus interview. Then, they called me back for the second interview in their offices, and now I'm waiting to hear back. The interview was fair, first they ask the traditional questions, and then they moved to behavioral and situational questions. I was also asked to solve a math problem and walked them through. Last, they asked about Excel experience and Q&AS.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
What motivates you?
Tell me about a time you've improve something?
Tell me about a time you had a lot of stress?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in Mar 2015
Interview
Three interviews starting with recruiter, manager and senior manager. The managers ask technical questions that might be too specific. The senior manager focuses on personality and fit. All phone interviews so no face to face which might be a negative. The technical questions were specific to the industrial engineering role and taken from the basics of IE. Situational questions are common and not tricky.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Express in May 2015
Interview
It was an initial phone interview. The first questions were standard to check the answers provided in the online application match. Then, it is more about talking about your resume. But when they start asking about your job experience, it is all about your past salaries. They asked for all my past salaries, even internships I did 5 years ago.
After this, I felt very uncomfortable answering questions. The interviewer even pushed me to give an exact number for past jobs and the minimum salary I would accept.
Overall, terrible experience. An interview should not be based about salaries and I think it is not their business to know my entire income history.
