Interview
The first step in the interview process is to get shortlisted for interview. This may involve you sending a tailored CV and cover letter in response to an advertised position or going through an online application process. In some cases you may be headhunted or called to interview on the basis of a strong referral. Many companies now have screening interview to assess whether you possess the qualifications and general aptitude to do the job. This may be carried out over the phone or in person, usually with a recruitment agency or an in-house recruiter. The main function of the screening interview is to narrow down the number of candidates to be called for First round Interviews.

Interview
I applied for the role on the Arm website. A short while later I was asked to complete the Arm Chemistry online test. Two weeks later I was invited to interview.
I took the day off to prepare and make sure that I could attend. The allotted time came and went but the interviewer didn’t show-up. Over the next week I chased for a re-schedule. Finally I received a boilerplate email response telling me that that I was not suitable for the role.
Some points for Arm to consider. They should not send invites to people who are not suitable. If they cancel, then they should let people know. If they can’t manage the first two points, then apologise.
It was an exciting role in a speciality where I have a load of experience. I’d never attend an interview unprepared, so I invested time getting ready – a day of holiday that I’d much rather have spent with my family.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Arm (Cambridge, East of England, England) in Nov 2019
Interview
I applied through the ARM careers website, I received an invitation to a phone interview about two weeks later. The interview content was broad. Responsibilities of the position were discussed along with questions covering HDL, C, ARM assembly, OOP and computer architecture fundamentals. The interview was fun and informative, but the quality of the call was quite deficient due to the long-distance connection, a skype call would have been better in my opinion. Overall good experience.
