I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Avanade (Dallas, TX) in Apr 2012
Interview
I was an employee referral from a friend currently working for Avanade. There was a phone interview with HR and then a phone tech screen followed by an in person 1:1 meeting. Very easy and painless interview process.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Avanade (Phoenix, AZ) in Jun 2014
Interview
It is a typical first level then second (deeper) level interview. then the HR "soft skills" interview and then an upper management interview. I found that asking questions elicited much more interaction with the interviewer and was probably viewed more positively than had I not asked questions of them.

Depending on your skillset, you will get questions focused on your area of expertise
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Avanade (New York, NY) in Sep 2011
Interview
There were 2 rounds of interviews (phone and in-person). The phone interview was first, but it took them 3 months to interview me in-person! I had to keep following up with the recruiter and had to wait a lot just for the next steps.
