Booking.com interview questions

Applied online. Girl from HR was very polite and phone interview was arranged within a week. Phone interview was conducted by two guys, who were very polite as well. This was a technical interview, consisting of algorithm, database and business questions. Most of the stuff is already described on this site so I will not go into much detail. One of the questions, for example, was how to traverse directory tree to find specific file. After phone interview I was invited to on-site interview in Amsterdam. It was a two hour technical interview. Each our two different guys were conducting. This interview is much harder, with several algorithm problems (find path for knight from start to destination on chessboard), business awareness problems (how to improve the site) and db of course. Interviewers were mostly nice and polite, with great technical knowledge, although second hour guys were openly yawning and seemed irritated, but probably my answers deserved this :) In a couple of days I got a rejection letter. All in all, this was a good experience and I was able to visit Amsterdam. Too bad that I didn't get the job though, as the company seems to be very nice.

Ik maakte gebruik van een vertegenwoordiger genaamd allaroundtheworld.fr en ondanks dat ik geen ervaring had (had wel ervaring in FOSS, dus dat was goed voor hen), regelde ze de meeste van mijn communicaties en regelde een telefonisch interview voor me. Dat bestond uit vragen over databases en algoritmen. Naar een interview gaan voor programmeur zonder je complexiteiten te doen is zonde, en ook JOIN operaties in databases. Doe ze goed.
