I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Capital One in Feb 2015
Interview
Was put in touch with a recruiter by a colleague, then after recruiter phone screen took an online programming test. The phone screen went really well, I explained about my current role (academic researcher in a STEM field), recruiter explained more about what they do at Capital One labs. Was given a link to the test, which can be taken only one time, and is a programming test. The problems are not difficult, but in my research I basically know the programming I need to get the job done...it's definitely not my strength. I didn't pass this test, based on the test cases during the test I think I got about 50%. If this test is passed, next comes a data challenge using an actual dataset. I wish I could have gone straight to that, I think I would have done much better on it than the programming test.
