I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Mar 2011
Interview
I first applied online, which included uploading resume and references as well as a test (basically: "what would you do in this situation?"). After about a week, the application status posted as declined. But I got a call a few weeks later about starting the interviewing process. This included a telephone interview with the recruiter. Then, there was a panel interview with five branch and assistant branch managers later that week. Lots more "what would you do in this situation?" questions. Then a few days later the recruiter called with my offer of employment, including a pay rate that was higher than she was supposed to give me (and which seemed low to me). So she called back later to rescind that offer and to replace with a new one less $1.35/hr.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Richmond, VA) in May 2011
Interview
Took an online test after submitting the application
I was emailed and told that I passed the exam and the on-site interview was scheduled
The on-site interview had 3 steps:
Job fit
Essentially explored what type of work would best suit your skill set
Behavioral
Asked questions that started with "Tell me about a time when..."
Case
Gave you a problem to solve. They're looking to see how you approach problems.
