I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Apr 2023
Interview
3 step process as mentioned in other places here: 1. Initial screen with a recruiter who interfaces with you on behalf of Capital One 2. CodeSignal technical assessment. 70 minutes with 4 questions. Definitely a better strategy to go 1,2,4,3 since the 3 question is a longer one. I scored 710/1200 I believe and still passed 3. POWER DAY. 4 50 minute sessions, one behavioral, one case study, one software design, and one coding. They provide documents going over each of them and have youtube videos outlining them that I thought were nice. My software design interview was nothing I've experienced before since it was designing for 5 features in 45 minutes...
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Basic behavioral: time you learned something new, time you had a disagreement, time you experienced a shift in priorities on a project Case study: A capital one feature, exploring the benefits and drawbacks, and then interacting with some basic code. Coding exercise: I wish I had practiced this more with others. I had to revise my criteria 5 times before understanding the desired input. Next time, I should be more comfortable with silence and working the input to understand the ask. In the end, my code ran but with one embedded for-loop. I was asked to clean that up even though the embedded for-loop could only contain a size of 3...honestly, my bad for not having a better response Software Design: Design a MVP for the following features: 1. cc application 2. posting transactions 3. Viewing transactions 4. Viewing daily, weekly, and monthly stats 5. A last feature that I didn't get to... I have no idea how I'm supposed to design an architecture with each of these features in mind and optimized in 45 minutes...
Spoke to a recruiter for a technical position. He pushed back on basic technologies that are used for building apps and websites, and said it didn't could towards engineering. Made no sense having to defend my experience.

Question 1
How many years of engineering experience do you have?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Mar 2023
Interview
People were very nice, and the interview process was fun. As I mentioned in the "interview questions" section, there were 4 interviews except the meetings with the recruiter. Everything was well organized, and there is nothing I can complain about the interview process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Screening was a coding interview in an automated environment (no interviewer). I thought I failed, apparently it was enough to pass. There were 4 questions in 70 minutes. I could not touch the 4th one. Medium Leetcode question in coding interview. Build a banking system in design interview. Behavioral interview.
