One senior engineer did a phone screen - asked lots of detailed and coding questions, review data structures and algorithms, core Java, collections frameworks, Spring and Spring Boot, SQL questions, design and modeling questions, REST API questions. The take home project involved finishing a Weather API.

Question 1
- REST API design
- Spring boot questions
- Core Java and multithreading questions
The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Jan 2022
Interview
A recruiter reached out and from there the process looked like this:
1. Intro Recruiter Call
2. Online Coding Assessment (CodeSignal)
3. Ambassador Call with a person of your choice depending on availibility to answer any questions you may have.
4. Power Day Onsite
This consisted of a behavioral round using the STAR method, System Design interview designing a site to view electricity usage in apartment buildings, a case interview focused on designing a chat bot, and a LeetCode round.
Interviewers weren't the most friendly or helpful. I had asked a question to clarify the problem and certain wording the interview had used, and they laughed as if the answer was obvious.
I received no correspondance after the onsite regarding my application status, even after emailing my recruiter after several weeks.
Overall a smooth experience. Recruiter contacted me and then sent an OA, which I wouldn't rate as easy. Try to get at least 3 out of 4 questions right and you will pass. Next came the "Power day" which is basically the virtual onsite consisting of 4 rounds.
There was system design, case, coding and behavioral. Coding is a cakewalk if you have been practicing for other bigger companies. System design was a good experience, my interviewer touched almost every aspect of the design in depth. You can choose to go in whichever direction your forte is like DB, High level, low level, network etc. Question was similar to what you find in other posts.
Case interview was very open ended and some people might find it weird because you cant really prep for it. They also give you a code snippet to debug and some basic quant analysis type of question.
Behavioral was based on standard format of STAR based on past experiences.
