I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (New York, NY) in Sep 2019
Interview
I was contacted by an HR recruiter who found me on Hired. We did the initial phone screening, which was very positive. And then I was given a take home test on HackerRank. It was supposed to only take 2-4 hours according to the recruiter, but I don't see how that was even remotely possible given the amount of work required to complete the solution. After spending TWO DAYS (off and on) of making sure the solution passed all of the testing features using Cucumber as well as the new features I was supposed to create, I submitted the solution that I considered clean and concise. I had to wait an entire week before receiving a rejection notice. When I asked the recruiter if he could collect any feedback for rejecting my WORKING solution, he said he would try to get it for me, but I have not heard back since then.
Rejecting a candidate on a long take home assignment who provided a working solution AND not providing any feedback is never acceptable.

Question 1
Write a weather tracker application using Spring Boot. Some skeletal REST endpoints and a suite of testing features are provided. You are expected to implement the necessary logic to pass all the features as well as coming up with new features of your own.
2/5 no shows for a 5 round interview power day. Two of my supposed colleagues just left me in an empty room. Most everyone else was pretty chill though. One guy seemed to have slight anger issues but I was able to get along with him well, didn't look like he was having a good day but seemed like an ok guy once you got on his approved side. I think most all of the interviewers gave good feedback about me but just that I wasn't senior enough. Just not a good fit because they want to pay much lower than other similar companies, they only seem to want to hire fresh out of college or if they do hire senior, then some of the best of the best and not in the top 70-80% range.
