I applied online. I interviewed at Johnson Controls (Milwaukee, WI) in Mar 2026
Interview
The job is located in US. Missed recruiter's first call super early in the morning and then their AI assistant Emma scheduled a virtual interview through email. Recruiter did not show up without any notice. I waited online, emailed and called but got no response. Very difficult to reach anyone through their Wisconsin phone number. A simple search shows they are actually in India. When I finally reached the recruiter a week later, her explanation for standing me up was we didn't talk before the interview. (What?) Then she asked me some regular screening questions, told me the actual max salary is the lowest end of their posted range, and I would get an email from Emma to set up an interview with hiring manager within a few days. All I got was an automatic rejection email.

Interview
The interviewer was late to the interview. She did not turn on her camera despite I did, which made me feel disrespected. She also gave a very brief overview of the company and the job description; just a few liners where I actually learnt more via the company's website ahead of the interview. After elaborating on my past and current role, the follow-up questions she asked made me feel like she did not understand anything, as I had to repeat myself. After that, she quickly concluded the interview by saying that I'll hear from them if I'm shortlisted for the next round, without asking me if I have any questions. Overall, her tone made me feel that she just wanted to get it over and done with, instead of hearing what the candidate has to offer. One of my worst interview experiences.
