I applied online. I interviewed at Lightspeed (Tiflis) in Mar 2026
Interview
The interview process was 4 stages, and took about 2–3 weeks total:
1. Screening interview with recruiter (took about 30 min). We discussed my interest in company and in the position.
2. Team Call with Design Manager and Design Head (took about 60 min) –discuss my experience, case study, research and problem solving approaches.
3. Design Exercise/Home Task
4. Home Task Call - Deep dive on design decisions, where I presented the designs for the home task.

Question 1
There were questions regarding case study I have presented, regarding research, stakeholder management and problem definitions. Most interesting question were about decisions I've made and my argumentation of them.

Interview
Quick recruiter call, followed by hiring manager round, team interview, VP round. Everyone is very nice, respectful and collaborative. Very smart people, you can exchange a good conversation. Super friendly :)

Question 1
Standard questions about experience/background, situational questions and a mini case study.
I experienced the interview process as very disrespectful. Only during the feedback conversation after my rejection did I learn that the position had effectively shifted toward a mid‑level role, something that had not been communicated to me beforehand. I was told that this feedback that I am, somehow, actually a mid level developer (despite covering the job of a senior) was told to me “for the sake of my future.” In my view, questioning a candidate’s seniority, especially when they have already held comparable roles for years, is inappropriate. I ultimately accepted a senior position elsewhere with higher compensation and full remote, without mandatory “pillar days” of attendance or whatever you called it. For me personally, remaining unemployed would have been preferable to working here.

Mostly technical coding questions that in my opinion really relied on mnemonic knowledge and became obsolete after LLMs
