Question 1
would you be comfortable with applying cosmetics to customers faces or hands?
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's in Jul 2011
Interview
Scheduled interview online, which was two weeks before avaiable interview date. When I went in, the Cosmetic Manager was busy so I had to interview with the Sales Manager (who was previously the cos. mgr so it was okay). She was nice and it went well, but there were no openings at that time which is why I assume I wasn't called back. I did everything, dressed in black skirt, neutral blouse, black patent shoes. Had a portfolio with copies of resume and reference, and even sent in thank you letter. Keep in mind it's more about the SALES and customer service initiative, not being able to play with makeup.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
When have you been able to persuade someone to do something?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Macy's (San Jose, CA) in Aug 2011
Interview
I was asked to show up to the cosmetics department to interview. I arrived 15 minutes early and we started the interview right away. I blew the manager away since I have an extensive customer service/cosmetic sales background. She asked me why I left my most recent job, why I was interested in working for her department, how to steer a certain customer to a specific makeup line, what my favorite makeup products were, etc. They were all easy questions (no "tell me about a time..."). We made a lot of small talk and I felt very comfortable throughout the entire interview. I dressed very professionally (a black dress) and got compliments on my outfit, appearance, makeup, hair, and even purse. I knew I got the job on the spot. They called me 3 days later and offered me the job.
