I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Macy's (Federal Way, WA) in Apr 2013
Interview
The hiring process was pretty simple and easy. All you do is fill out information about yourself. During my experience, Macy's contacted me maybe 2 or 3 days after I submitted the application and asked me to schedule an interview. You schedule the interview online.
My interview took about 15 minutes long. This was also straightforward and easy. You just answer the questions as best and honest as you can. The questions I were asked were typical interview questions. I felt like I did well until the end where I was faced with the more difficult questions that I was not necessarily prepared for. The questions were regarding whether you like facts or are more based on intuition when making decisions and it kinda threw me off. When the interview was done they said they would contact me in the next couple days. So hopefully tomorrow I get some info.
I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Macy's in Apr 2013
Interview
Applied online and received an email for an interview the next day. The interview was very easygoing, most of the questions I was asked are already listed here! She said she would ask me additional questions which made me nervous, but it was just a description of the position and whether or not I thought I could do it. I was hired on the spot.

Question 1
I was stumped by "what was a time you had to approach a stranger to sell a product or idea" - but this was because I have no retail experience
I applied online. I interviewed at Macy's (Honolulu, HI) in Mar 2013
Interview
I applied online and at first I received a automated rejection letter not even giving me an interview. Then a month later I get a surprising E-mail asking what time I would like to schedule the interview. So I schedule the interview soon since I know they hire on the spot and I don't want positions to run out. I arrive about 6 minutes early and I am taken in 10 minutes later. The room I was interviewed in was a messy room where other people worked. I thought that was unprofessional on Macy's part. The interviewer was actually not one of the nicer looking people working there and spoke in a condescending tone. He remarked "oh so you've been on Hawaii for a while" (actually I was born and raised here and he assumed since I am a white person I am from the outside). People in HR really should not just say random assumptions especially things related to where the person is from. Let me tell you if your in Hawaii and your interviewer is a local who thinks your a mainland outsider, then there may be some odds against you. I did not bother correcting him and telling him I'm actually from here since I already knew he carried a first impression outsider bias towards me. He then went on and asked me a series of questions which were straightforward and personality based. At one point in the interview he remarked "you should work for a bank." This also indicated that I may have been overqualified for the position, but whatever. Yes I am college student that has worked and interned at large corporations. One of the reasons I applied was to get sales experience and some side money (but I did not say that in the interview). The interviewer also did not apologize or say excuse me for taking a phone call in the middle of the interview. The only thing I respect about the interview process is that it is really quick on letting you know whether you got the job or not. The bottom line is if they don't tell you on the spot or if they don't ask you to fill out a paper then there is a good chance you did not get the offer. I got a rejection email the next day.
