I applied online. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Bury, North West England, England) in Aug 2017
Interview
I had to carry out an online questionnaire type application at first whereby they would ask you questions regarding potential scenarios in which you could be encountered with, as well as some things regarding your personality. if you pass that, you will receive an email telling you to pick a date to attend an interview at the store.
Once i arrived at the store i was told to wait in the canteen, in which i had to wait for around 20 minutes as they were running late,
I was taken into the room whereby they had a stall set up of different foods / drinks available like a party was occurring. The woman gave me a sheet of produce (stating what was on offer and in stock), a promotion sheet, a scenario and a piece of paper to write notes on. The woman went out of the room for 5 minutes and you had to write as much as you could in note form based on what the scenario was looking for. in my example, the woman was preparing for a party, but some of the items on her list were out of stock. (Remember to offer all of the alternatives when doing the role-play.)
Once the five minutes were over, a different colleague would come in and act as the person in the scenario, and you have to help them gain all the products they need. I fell on this part because i forgot to ask important questions such as "does anybody have any allergies?", or "how many people are attending the party?" to gain a full understanding of what she was after.
Finally, i was taken into a separate room where i was told i didn't succeed, but was given very thorough feedback on where i went wrong and how i could improve.
