Marks & Spencer interview questions

Got an in-person interview. It went well, very standard questions, a few scenario questions but nothing too difficult. It felt like a positive interaction and I was told I had passed and they would be in touch about a contract within 2 weeks. After around 4 weeks of no response I emailed and was sent an automated message that said to wait longer. Overall, poor communication and a feeling of false hope, which is a shame as it is a respected company in the UK. I have heard of this happening to people before, whilst some do not experience this. I assume it varies location to location.
