I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (New York, NY) in Oct 2012
Interview
Interview involved questions about my background education and customer service experience. I was then asked to do a role play exercise where I was the shop assistant and the interviewer was the customer. Bit embarrassing but not too difficult.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (London, England) in Oct 2013
Interview
The entire interview process was straightforward. I was given tasks to complete, and various forms to fill in, and I had a one to one with the store manager to answer various typical competency questions. They mostly just want to ensure you know what a high level of customer service practically involves in your day to day activities, and the fact that you're representing the company in all that you do. Then a few days later I received a call that I was successful.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Castle Donnington, England) in Aug 2015
Interview
There was a lot of paperwork to fill out involving things like employment history, uniform size, bank details etc. I had to complete a maths, English and product picking test, they were all fairly easy, you are timed but there is enough to double check the answers. The actual interview is quite short and not too formal, although the whole process took about two hours to complete. After that they will ask you to go back in for a drugs and alcohol test.
