I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Slack in Nov 2021
Interview
Very tedious. They go through a chronological deep dive on all of your experience and spend 30 minutes of the full hour digging in on college experience. I would have preferred to discuss my most relevant experiences and examples given I graduated 10 years ago. It felt like an interrogation. They drill you with questions and each answer you give they push farther and made me very uncomfortable. The whole thing felt unnecessary and irrelevant to the job opening.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Slack in Nov 2021
Interview
5 rounds of interviews, took 2 months, made it to the final round and didn't get the job.
First phone interview was with a Slack Recruiter who was the only person I communicated with via email for the entire process. She was very helpful and prepped me for next rounds of interview. Next was with the person who who I would report to, then 3 sets of interview with different team members. This process took 1 week but hearing back about the final descion took 2 months.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me something about yourself that isn't on your resume.
What technology have you utilized in the past?
How do you measure a team's success?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (Singapur) in Dec 2021
Interview
Got a referral through a friend at SF. Recruiter reached back within a week.
4 rounds
Round 1: Recruiter check
Thorough walk through of the background, primarily aimed at knowing where you would fit it. From a sales perspective m- SMB, enterprise or large enterprise? Recruiter was courteous and focused. Scheduled the next round the same day.
Round 2: Chrono round
Since the hiring manager was not available, they scheduled the chrono round first. Found this round interesting, they would go through every major decision of your life to check your approach, consistency and decision making process.
Being straight and true was important.
Round 3: Panel
Recruiter came back with the feedback the same day and got 2 more rounds scheduled- hiring manager and panel rounds. They want to know your approach to sales and the kind of work you have done earlier. And then finally about how you would sell yourself. Case study was easy but it is more about your preferences and priorities.
Round 4: hiring manager
Really cool guy, super chilled out interaction, he already had the collated feedback from the rest of the team. Just 30 mins and all done.
Recruiter reached out the next day with final response, decent offer, all good from there.
