Overall experience was quite good for a pre IPO company on a hiring spree in a competitive market. Applied online and received the call within a few days. The recruiter provided a good overview of expectations for the role and also asked some actual management questions for vetting. Went quiet for a month after that and I reached out to them again. Got immediate response from recruiter and was set up with a call with HM within a few days. Call with HM went very well - honestly one of the best interview experiences for me. Was called in for onsite the following week. I thought the onsite went quite well as well, consisted of 8 member panel of directors, senior managers, senior eng and recruiter. Questions were well crafted, nothing out of the ordinary, interviewers took lots of notes !! Slack is VERY focused on hiring people who keep things human and empathetic, which explains the high satisfaction ratings from employees. My take on EM aligned nicely with their expectations. Got the call from recruiter two days later that things went well and feedback with be sent to hiring committee. Had to wait two days to hear back from HC and offer was made the following day.

Everyone involved with my on-boarding went above and beyond their call of duty to accommodate a very expedited timeline. The process is straight forward. It begins with an introductory call with a recruiter followed by a technical exercise to be completed at your discretion. The exercise will differ depending on the role being pursued. If all goes well, a phone call with your prospective team's manager is scheduled followed by an onsite interview. The recruiting team will provide details of what is to be expected. Use this information to prepare and you will have everything you need to have a successful onsite. In my experience, there was no trickery or deviation from what I was informed to expect. I found the people at Slack to be beyond amazing and they clearly practice what they preach.
