I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at US Navy (El Paso, TX) in Apr 2011
Interview
Interviewed with a recruiter at the recruiting station. They went over the process of joining to include a medical physical and a background check. After competing the interview, physical and background check, I met with a classifier and picked my job and when I wanted to leave to boot camp. Everything was put into a contract and then I raised my hand and swore into the US Navy.
I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at US Navy
Interview
Lengthy process involving application, interview, medical screening and other tasks. The length and level of difficulty can change depending on the "needs of the Navy", time of year, and location, to name a few factors. It's largely handled out of the officer recruiting districts in each state/region.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at US Navy (Ocean Springs, MS)
Interview
No interview. Take an exam. Pass a drug test. Good to go. I had to take the ASVAB, then I took an additional exam to qualify for nuke. It was all math.
