Tell the recruiter that you want to be a nuke and you have to pass the ASVAB with a certain score in order to qualify. Even if you fail you can get a waiver and take an aptitude test to qualify for the position. Once at boot camp that's where your rate is actually chosen according to the needs of the navy so you may not get what you want. Full FBI background check for a top secret clearance

Interview was with a board of nurses at one of the big Navy hospitals. In addition, I was required to do a background check and submit a package application. My recruiter retired mid-process and my application was almost lost, however a family friend knew another recruiter who helped me re-submit it. The application process was over 6 months.
