I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at US Navy
Interview
I wanted to join the Navy right out of high school. I went in search of a Navy recruiter office to enlist when I graduated. I went into the DEP program before I left for basic training in January 1995. When I initially went into the office, I was impressed with the discipline and professionalism of the military members in the office. They wanted me to enlist and motivated me to get through all of the steps I needed to accomplish to enlist. I had to take the ASVAB test and score at a certain level to get the type of job I wanted to do.

Question 1
In 1995, the military still asked about sexual orientation and if you were gay or lesbian. If you were, you were not able to join.

Talk to your local Navy recruiter. Pass the ASVAB. Talk to your recruiter about the Delayed Entry Program. Be willing to give up x amount of years to the government.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Should you lie about your background in order to enlist, and risk being charged with fraudulent enlistment? I.E. Have you ever used drugs or drank underage?
Your recruiter will tell you to lie, but your recruit division commander at boot camp will threaten you to confess the truth. To this day, I still don't know which of them genuinely represented the Navy's best interests.
