The interview consisted of two parts - one to one interview and a group interview. The group interview was completed first and involved 6 of us being asked to read information about a customer and match them with a particular product which would best suit their needs, I would really advise having a few options you could suggest per customer where possible, and make sure that you not only heard yourself but ask the others about what they feel, if the right decisions were made as a group etc. You have 5 minutes before you start the task as a groupBe open to listening to the people in your group for example, in our group, one candidate was so obsessed with the customer whose favourite product was discontinued (in this case it was a butterscotch cake) she automatically assumed the next item to offer him would be the butterscotch pastry and was very stuck on this answer, whereas she didn't consider the possibility that it could be the cake the customer actually wanted rather than butterscotch flavouring, and the idea of asking the customer what they actually wanted wasn't contemplated at all. Be familiar with Waitrose! ie, how in certain situations, they will give customers samples to try to generate repeat custom.
After the group task, the interviewer asked us about our answers, and then took us back to the initial waiting room where we were going to be interviewed 1-1. I was lucky in that I was called first and my interviewer was also the one who did the group assessment for the group interview which hopefully helped!
The questions focused on Partner behaviours and along the lines of "Name a time when you made a mistake and how you resolved the problem? How did you ensure this didn't happen again?", "What does good customer service mean to you?" (He said my answer was as if I had the John Lewis Handbook on me haha)
Overall it was a positive experience, all of the interview staff seemed to want to help and everyone to do well. I received a call 3 days after the interview offering me a position (they did mention it can take up to 10 days to get a response)
