I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Waitrose (London, England) in Mar 2018
Interview
I applied to a post for Various London stores on the JLP website, completing all the SJ tests. After 4 days I was told to book a group interview time and date.
A week later I attended the interview at Canfields, where there were about 20 people. We were split up in 2 groups, with a mix of elderly people to students. Initially we were told to fill out our availability and what stores we could work in. We then had to complete a task in 10 minutes, giving customers desserts that fit their requirements, including price, allergens and calories. We had 5 minutes to present back to the interviewer.
After we were then called to complete out individual interviews, and I was one of the last people. She asked me various questions like what do I do, where I study and if I have holidays planned before she asked the main assessment questions (which I’ll list below).
I was then told to wait for up to 2 weeks to get matched if I was successful, and that I’d hear back in 72 hours by email if I was unsuccessful. After 4 hours of completing the interview, I was called saying I was successful and that they’d found a vacancy for me! The next day I called back, accepted the offer and I’m due to start in two weeks!!
The main thing I suggest is for you to have eye contact with the assessors and continuously smile. Go on the JLP website and look up all the things they want in an employee, and make sure to list them in your interview. I didn’t talk too much in the group assessment as I didn’t want to dominate the group (and my group was quite loud), and I think that worked well for me.
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Waitrose (Aylesbury, England) in Aug 2015
Interview
Applied online after a lengthy situational questionnaire, then got a call asking for an interview date. Had a small group interview where we were asked to work together to solve a problem. Then had a one-to-one interview with a manager.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Waitrose (Canterbury, England) in Feb 2018
Interview
I had a group interview with roughly 5 other people where we worked as a group to come up with ideas and present the answers to 5 questions relating to health and safety and working in a team. It was relatively easy. We had a sheet to fill out then, I was invited to a personal one on one interview, where i found my application had been highlighted as unsuitable, as I am a university student and would be unable to work summer months. I was basically invited to interview to waste my time. Was rejected on the spot, and left feeling quite upset and let down.
