Had a group interview. Asked us questions individually and then had to do a group problem together. It only went on for about 20-30 mins, which was shorter than I imagined with 6 people in one room.
I applied online. I interviewed at Waitrose in Nov 2023
Interview
Terrible experience. This was the most formal and intimidating interview I've ever had. I might as well have been interviewing for the government. First off - it was 90 minutes, which I found strange, as I've never had such a long time block for an interview, especially as there was no real agenda set. The interview itself was incredibly formulaic, very question and answer based - no room for a real conversation about my experience, my passions or anything around that. They rigidly stuck to the John Lewis partnership assessment capabilities - so asking how I lead a team etc. Which is fine, but makes for quite a rigid experience and no room to talk about creativity, especially in a creative role! The interviewers were very stern and unsmiling - not a reflection of any kind of positive or welcoming culture at all. I found it utterly bizarre that in the middle of the interview I was asked hygiene questions such as if I had a criminal record, if I was over 18 and if I had a right to work in the UK. One interviewer stayed silent the whole time, which again I found very off-putting. The experience was very cold and formal, and I'm glad I wasn't progressed to the next stage. The best bit...? They took SEVEN weeks to get back to me, with no feedback at all apart from it being a 'no'.

There will be three results. The first is that you successfully pass the interview, the second is that you will be notified if there is a vacancy after being put in, and the third is that you fail.
