Pros

Hybrid schedule except your boss can make you come in office full time

Cons

Doing everything the buyer is with significantly less pay, they say you get an annually salary upon contract signing but then you meet the “salary cap” for that position after the 2nd year with only a dollar a year raise

Pros

Better salary than other supermarkets. Keeps you fit. Good locations of stores. You can sometimes have the opportunity to work at other branches.

Cons

Early and late shifts starting as early as 5am and ending at midnight to 1am. Unsociable working hours. Employees are given too much work to be completed in their shift and expected to stay behind (unpaid) to finish the work. I got asked to clock out at 11pm but needed to stay to finish unloading palettes. Hours - I got told I would work full time but if sales are down they will send employees home to save paying them. Some weeks I would only be able to work 26 hours which is not full time. Some weeks I worked less hours than my contract but management would tell you that as long as you did it over the month it didn’t matter?

Pros

- Decent pay for retail, paid breaks a plus - Deputy premium pay (£4 extra per hour) is good on the rare occasion you get it - Always something to do as staffing is so low, going back and forth between jobs k usually keeps things interesting - If you have a capable, hard working team (which is rare) the workday can be enjoyable

Cons

- Work life balance is awful, never leave on time and your shifts are changed with a few days notice without informing you or asking your permission despite the fact the rota is supposed to be made 4 weeks in advance - The hardest working employees get criticised and pushed the hardest, while bad employees are given the lowest expectations. Only listened to when you reach your breaking point - Will exploit you until you make a complaint, suggestions are ignored and are expected to perform at the same level without exception - Deputies are the most exploited and undervalued members of the team so be prepared to carry the store on your shoulders along with the other deputies - Path of least resistance is always followed to pursue faster working rather than take into account the mental and physical health of staff - Delivery drivers and warehouse selectors mean pallets can arrive completely unstable, destroyed, or missing altogether and they make the complaints procedures as time consuming and difficult as possible to disuade you from giving them extra work
