Pros

- Great pay - Great benefits - Wear jeans

Cons

- High stress job - Expect unreasonable goals and deadlines - Do not expect leadership to be on your side. Cover your butt; document every conversation (when, what, how the conversation went). - If you enter leadership as an external candidate, expect pushback from employees who have been there for a while. You will be tested. - Training will be very brief; take notes, ask questions, and be prepared to hit the floor day one after training as if you are a seasoned pro.

Pros

Pay is great, if you’re actually allowed to only work the 50 hours you’re paid to. Benefits are great and you’re going to need them because your body will be wrecked.

Cons

ZERO work/life balance, especially for leaders (not DM’s). DM’s can take time off and be unbothered and usually have a second work phone that they’ll just turn off, even if you need them. Constantly expected to do extra work on your own time with no additional compensation. Back breaking work, at an unreasonable pace. There’s being efficient, and then there’s what ALDI wants. ALDI expects you to be able to do pretty much an entire 15-25 pallet truck yourself, be on register as backup, do curbside and then your DM tells you it’s not enough and you’re a disappointment. Can your DM do those things? No. That’s not their job. Core values: consistency, simplicity, and responsibility. Yet ALDI stands for not a single one of these values.

Pros

Easy to learn, yearly raises, and excellent benefits. Flexible schedules that never feel overwhelming (my GM would actually ask me what days I wanted off!)and leave lots of time for school/social life. Costumers only ever ask if you have an item or where an item is so you hardly have to interact with people. The ones you do interact with are very pleasant 99% of the time. After a while you memorize where each individual item is and can complete your portion of work in less than two hours. Afterward, you spend the rest of your shift organizing or helping others. Working trucks in the morning provide you with a free full-body workout so you can cancel your gym membership. Corporate works very closely with individual employees, you will be seen and heard if you end up at a good store. Lot's of opportunities to grow.

Cons

If unlucky or a little too reliable you'll end up working the deep freezer more often than you'd like. Working the meat section sometimes leaves you with meat condensation/blood-covered gloves. The smells of raw food get so bad I nearly turned vegan. You're going to do a lot of heavy lifting if you aren't the fastest and friendliest cashier in your store so if that's not your thing you're going to suffer. After a while, you might question what you're doing with your life as the job is extremely repetitive and easy if you don't move up.
