Pros

- Progressional Path Available - (Internal/External promotion mix from Store Assistant to Store Manager) - Industry Leading Salary (Their pay is only rivalled (currently) by Lidl. They pay well) - Responsibilities that extend to all KPI's and Store Standards: You own your store results alongside the SM - A challenging environment that has a natural affinity for producing a feeling of achievement by overcoming significant time sensitive issues on a continual basis: It feels good to exceed what you thought was never possible by culturing team ethic and high personal performance

Cons

- Productivity based business model: Essentially, you will always feel like you never have enough time, and from that you will quickly learn that you can only economise the time you do have to achieve the best case scenario results - Working Hours: Although your hours will be reimbursed if you work over your contract; expect to work 50+ hours a week with no working pattern e.g. it is very much business dependant what shift patterns you work, so peak periods will require typically sporadic 10+ hour shifts - Store staffing structure is not departmentalised: Even the Store Manager will at times work on the till to meet/exceed productivity targets - even with phenomenal 'time management skills' it always remains a daily challenge to achieve all that is necessary and expected

Pros

there is always something to do

Cons

Pay is actually just average when compared to the the workload. Stores understaffed. Staff treated differently. No work life balance. Worked as an ASM for 5 years there with 20 years experience in retail management. Work most evenings and weekend. Area Managers have no real work experience so decision making is poor. Very much a blame culture. 68% of store staff leave within their 1st year due to work load and poor working conditions

Pros

Good group of store assistants

Cons

Staff are very overworked. expect to exceed working hours. once you add up the hours worked for salary members per month, your lucky if you come out with mimimum wage. " You dont have a work life balance"
