Only as a last desperate resort

Pros

Overtime was sometimes available if you required it, flexible work, discount card.

Cons

Our Department had a high turnover of new drivers quitting on the basis paid poorly for the amount of tasks they expected, trying to implement rules that were just not practical such as 29 minute early only so if an hour ahead you had to waste 31 minutes sitting around instead of being able to get on with and finish earlier, management was badly managed and any complaint to Section Leaders usually went unheeded meaning had to go above them all the time to get results which resulted in petty behaviour from one certain Section Leader, shifts changed on a dimes notice or if you were meant to finish by a certain time rarely did they actually assign a delivery run that finished at that time and was usually an hour over which had you been allowed to deliver earlier wouldn’t be a problem but again the 29 minute rule came into play, £7.50 wage for what should be a specialised highly paid job especially when it’s our driving license on the line not to mention having to load our own vans when (usually) loading staff were not available due to them not being in/not enough of them or picking orders off the shop floor.

Pros

Most colleagues at the same level are friendly and willing to help, Pay is exceptional for this type of job (especially for a student)

Cons

certain night shift colleagues can be very rude and miserable for example not allowing us to use the lift to bring stock downstairs when we have a short time left on our shift and they have the whole night, constantly giving out overtime that hasn't been asked for instead of hiring new staff (my contract is 21.5 hours a week yet I always get given nearly double this and am expected to be fine with this) due to my department (produce) being understaffed this causes alot of strain to be put onto evening colleagues as this tends to be the busiest part of the day and often we are expected to have everything ready for the morning colleagues when there are often times either 1 or 2 people working.

Pros

Some of the colleagues were friendly

Cons

Was taught poorly for three weeks by different managers how to do things on my shift and when I was caught doing something I had to be retrained. After that I was told I seemed lazy before because suddenly after being trained properly I sped up faster, shocking how learning where things are and the order they go in seems to make a difference!! Also refused to acknowledge doctors note and wouldn’t change hours due to mental illness/ physical complications, absolutely a nightmare of a company
