There's a reason ASDA is never in the Top 100 companies to work for.

Pros

Can anything be considered a pro? Is it worth getting paid in peanuts to be treated like garbage? Not everybody is completely horrible, there are some great people that I have met and stayed in contact with.

Cons

Managers, section leaders and occasionally some special snowflake colleagues who have a huge ego problem. They can and will stab you in the back if it can benefit them in some shape or form. They never have a view of the bigger picture and generally are not properly trained to be in a higher role. Managers and section leaders potentially lack the ability to lead, inspire and promote a healthy working environment and instead opt for bullying tactics, guilt tripping and backstabbing just to get work done. Even then, the work load increases and yet the time to do so decreases. If you work too fast, you are accused of cutting corners, if you work too slow you are told off for not working to the best of your ability. ... Huh? Being guilt tripped and potentially black mailed into working extra shifts. If you are not part of the 'inner circle' or so to speak, prepare to be moaned out if you so much as have a chat with someone for less than ten seconds, yet you will see the managers and their lackies wasting time in the warehouse for minutes on end. Terrible pay for the work you do; it is far more stressful than they would have you believe, and the ideals of working as a team is garbage. You either suck up to your 'superiors' or you will not have a good time. Expect to be guilt tripped regarding illness, even if said illness affects your work incredibly.

Pros

Flexible contracts for students and easy to transfer between stores. Good career progression opportunities. Asda stars good scheme if done properly. colleagues are really friendly.

Cons

Breaks differ between stores and aren't implemented correctly, e.g I often had 6 hours between my breaks. Checkout colleagues aren't allowed water with them which can cause health issues as their job is to talk constantly, and they don't have sufficient breaks especially when there is such a huge gap between breaks, and they can't just pop off the till to go to the canteen. Management have favourites who seem to get all the praise, this causes a lack of motivation for colleagues who perform well and go unrewarded and unnoticed.
