Pros

Overall package in line with tech market Great colleagues and people very dedicated to company

Cons

Very poor work life balance and no acknowledgment or appreciation Intimidating behaviour from senior leadership known and unchallenged Some depts. seem to have unlimited funds compared to others who struggle to operate within the confines of very poorly resourced teams due to lack of mgmt. understanding what they actually do.

ARM is cheap

Pros

* Execs open to talk to employees regardless of their level * Work/Life balance * Softbank is focused on the big picture and long term growth * Openness on products (the opposite of Apple pretty much) *

Cons

* No RSUs/ESPP due to acquisition. This has caused people to not feel part of the company as much as before. RSUs replaced by money, ESPP removed and there's not a replacement yet. * WFH frowned upon * Not enough perks given to keep people from looking to better opportunities. * For a company with revenues over $1.5B/yr and less then 5000 employees I must say ARM is very cheap when it comes to employees. Not to mention most employees live in the UK where salaries are really low. Super low budget when it comes to 'extras.' I won't go into details but ARM is trying to impose a 'health agenda' which is just ridiculous, and another way of saying they are cheap and looking to cut costs. * Hard to get promoted. More importantly, management is not clear on why a high review is not able to get you promoted. "Wait for your turn" and other bogus explanations given when pressed. * Many talented people have left the company since the Softbank acquisition (to samsung, apple, amazon, etc). They mostly complained about lack of upward/lateral mobility, limited perks. * Bonus/raises based on where you fall on your grade pay scale not on merit (the higher you are in the scale compared to colleagues, the less bonus/raises you get). HR focus on 'equalizing' pay is completely unfair as bonus/raise is not based purely on merit and reviews.

Arm Response
8y
Thank you for leaving a review and acknowledging the open atmosphere and work/life balance that is core to ARM culture. However, some of your other feedback is concerning, and I would like to take this opportunity to address some of the issues. Since the Softbank acquisition last year, RSU grants were replaced with a cash plan that includes Launch Awards and annual Partnership Awards. While a pure cash plan could “reduce employees’ tie to the company”, our employees’ positive response to ‘Retention and Reward’ in our annual Engagement Survey has increased significantly since the move from RSUs to cash. In fact, ARM positive response to the statement ‘I think I’m rewarded fairly for the work I do’ is 15 percentage points higher than other High Performing Companies. We expect the positive response to increase even further when we roll out the Flex Pot benefit later this year (the “replacement for ESPP” that you mention). Between ARM’s generous salaries, increased annual bonus targets, excellent medical plans, 401k match, amazing new Austin office space (with coffee shop, gym, basketball/soccer facilities, and subsidized cafeteria), and aforementioned Launch/Partnership Awards, most employees find ARM to be anything but “cheap”. Finally, regarding promotions: we promote based on merit and the value that each employee brings to the role. With significant growth forecasted, there will be plenty of opportunities to move on to larger opportunities. We encourage employees to have regular development discussions with their line manager and create development objectives. I encourage you to continue developing your skillset by visiting our Talent Development Intranet page and reviewing the extensive training that is available. Again, I appreciate your advice and your review of work experience at ARM!

Pros

1. Flat organisation 2. Challenging environment 3.Technology driving company 4.Good work-play balance 5.Innovation and Smart work is appreciated. 6.A very ethical and social concerned organisation, (ARM partnered with UNICEF to develop more meaningful stuff in the IoT space) and I am proud of it.

Cons

1. Compensation and Rewards do not resonate with the "best of the Industry" tag 2. Cross vertical rotation opportunities very difficult 3.Relatively long duration between promotions 4. Salaries do not meet the cost of living standards at least in Cambridge office
