Pros

This is the largest company I've worked for but the engineering and marketing staff are all very intelligent and productive. Benefits are top notch.

Cons

Legal department is understaffed and hyper conservative when it comes to open source because of their IP business. Lots of red-tape. IT is conservative but needfully so I suppose. Working outside the mothership (Cambridge) makes us a bit 2nd class citizens unless you're willing to travel to Europe and APAC frequently.

Pros

- Work with some very clever, interesting and nice people. - Lots of opportunities to do really interesting work. - Plenty of freedom/leeway to define own job role and organise how you get on and do the work. - Normally a relaxed working atmosphere - Growth opportunities if in right division. - Shares. - Month sabbatical - Private health care. - Some good social events. - They do try to look after there staff.

Cons

Mostly growth pains ... - Under investment in IT and Engineering IT and a lack of thought in these areas can (on occasion) make it a very frustrating place to try to do engineering. - Lack of growth in some divisions. - Working environment in quite a few places tatty and ill suited to purpose.

Pros

Excellent Colleagues who, within project teams, worked very well together. Engineers highly valued and training opportunities are good. Work-Life balance is good.

Cons

Salaries are really low and career advancement is hard work, not a place to make a splash and rise up quickly through the ranks. Company going through difficulties `growing-up' and constant changes to internal divisional structure make company-wide collaboration really tough. As a result of this, all the real decision making takes place through informal channels. You don't really have a voice unless you were there 'in-the-barn' and form part of the founder-myth surrounding the company.
