Pros

Good benefit package. Certain leaders in the upper management are really good role models.

Cons

Most projects are not self-sourced by company itself, so a lot of times employees have to conform to the "parent" company's work ethics. (If you come in late to work / go home early, you'll be penalized and sometimes, escalated to Avanade's upper management) Even if you complain about it to management, Avanade will not be able to do much for you other than telling you to take a sabbatical (non-paid) or just tolerate it till the project ends. They won't be able to take you off the project completely and immediately.

The promotion process takes into account an number of factors, including performance track record and the overall needs of the business. Engaging your career adviser and outlining a path for career development and stretch opportunities to achieve that next level is a great first step. If you feel that there are unfair or unethical practices going on, I encourage to your report it to your HR representative or our anonymous business ethics line. Additionally, if you're willing to share, I'd be interested in hearing about the situations you've described in more detail; please feel free to send me an email at adam.wengert@avanade.com.

Pros

Working in the Managed Services out of Newcastle you get to work with the latest Technology with some of the brightest minds around. Lots of opportunities to develop new skills with an endless drive for certifications. Avanade expects a lot from you however provides you with a reasonable salary, great training, great benefits. As an entry level position if you have the drive and motivation Avanade is a great place to work. As a seasoned professional you will find it a tedious place to work.

Cons

Managed Services for Avanade is a strange affair, being in the UK but being managed from afar. For all the training and skills you learn limited reach to actually apply it in any sort of meaningful way. This ties into lack of career development as outside of the Managed Services there is limited (if any) chance to escape into other fields. (Consulting etc) Local Leadership expanding the truth then not delivering. I’m not saying lying but multiple occasions would suggest otherwise.. Lack of consistency when dealing with HR. UK HR is fabulous however Managed Services being overseas seem to run from two different playbooks.
