      Great employer for early career stages...too political for later stages

      Pros

      Best place to start your consulting career. The training opportunities and mentorship are excellent - though you will probably learn more from Accenture than Avanade leadership. You have the opportunity to own your career and pursue your interests. Worst case, you leave in 2 years with your certifications and real world experience. Avanade is the top Microsoft partner - great resume material.

      Cons

      I worked in several regions and your experience will vary greatly depending on your region/country. As with most companies, higher levels become very political especially if you're viewed as a threat. The culture has been negatively impacted with leaders moving between Europe, Asia and North America. I've read the reports regarding unethical behavior and I have witnessed this first hand. Part of me wants to believe it's cultural differences that led a senior leader to encourage his team to break local law but that should never be an excuse. I was encouraged to charge in more hours than I worked. And, before any Avanade leader replies asking for more information, it was reported to the ethics hotline and no action was taken despite having multiple occurrences and witnesses. Also, the company claims to have anti-retaliation policies. Again, experienced this first hand, and the policies are rubbish. Within 1 month of reporting an ethics violation I was removed from my leadership position. But that's just a coincidence, right? They did pay a significant severance to release them from liability. Maybe that's a pro?

      Great Place to start, but watch out!

      Pros

      This is a great place to start if you are directly out of school. There is a formal training that takes about a month that is very hands on and involved. More relaxed than other companies.

      Cons

      You can easily get placed on project that you are unhappy with. As a developer, they had me use a no-code (advertised as a developer free) platform to create applications. I have brought up my discomfort, and my feeling of being underutilized. After 3 projects, each with a promise that it'll be my last time using that platform I decided to look elsewhere. Since there was no actual development going on, I had to brush up on my coding, developing, and engineering skills and go elsewhere. Got a nice pay bump in the process too.

      Pros

      Decent health care and deductibles associated to the health care plans.

      Cons

      They are trying to make the top best place to work - do NOT believe this! I don't know who is filling these out. We received no bonus last year. We can't keep people they push them to Accenture or Microsoft when they want to hire young fresh out of college people. They do not pay for you to attend training they allow you to watch recorded training. Get ready to work 50 plus hours a week - its expected. Nights, weekends, always online no time for work life balance!
