Pros

- Humane leadership - Smart coworkers - You can rotate through different projects and if you end up in a bad project, Avanade will help you rotate out of it. I like the flexibility and being able to do new things with new clients and projects. - Can generally work from home unless a client project requires in-office work. - In my experience, work life balance has been good.

Cons

- Like any consulting company, the project opportunities are limited by what work has been sold and won. - Working alongside Accenture consultants (Accenture is kind of a parent company to Avanade) or client developers can be hit or miss. Sometimes the project is well run and sometimes it isn't. - Avanade is a big company so your mileage may vary depending on what part of the company you work for. The part I work for is good.

Pros

Great culture and people, with management that cares. Strong focus on certification and training, and great benefits. Excellent support for mental health and reasonable diversity programs that deliver value.

Cons

There are two places where the organization doesn't live their values: [1] They treat their employees rough on the way out... zero notice and they don't tell your team or management it's happening, so suddenly your project is left in the lurch. Bad for clients and employees. [2] There is no investment to build the business - as employees you're held to the same requirements for billable and utilization as established practices, and then you're asked to donate hours to build the business. This means you won't be eligible for promotions and it will harm your bonus compensation. If I'm being asked to invest my $$$ in building the business, I deserve equity. Otherwise, don't ask employees to literally become investors to build new capabilities and practices. Although benefits overall are great, they don't pay for certifications or required annual maintenance or membership fees for anything aside from Microsoft certifications. Also, no educational reimbursement, the first place I've worked at in 20 years to not have any support for education.
