Pros

Best Buy was a great place to work many years ago in services. Management was great, inside stores was as well. Fellow employees were typically great coworkers.

Cons

Current CEO is driving Best Buy into the ground. Pushing credit cards and pushing sales and credit cards heavily on store associates as well as in-home agents due to missed sales. Tore apart services and laid of tons of seasoned employees. Not a lot of skill and knowledge left now.

Pros

I really loved that I was usually always busy at the Best Buy I worked at. The first location I worked at closed. There are some really cool people who work at Best Buy. I made some great friends. I loved working with the customers most of the time and advising them.

Cons

But what is frustrating is being expected to be able to do everything, I wasn’t trained to do certain things and they expected me to do them without help. They wanted me to make $8000 a day and not get paid any extra for it. They expect you to act like a commissioned salesperson but do not pay you a commissioned wage. I have worked commissioned sales with expertise and consultative selling. I had sales goals to meet and attachment rates and metrics that they would ride me about, but I wasn’t getting paid any more for selling more. They didn’t let you just chit chat with your coworkers. That’s why I left. I was a high performer. I was not compensated as one. I was paid $18 an hour for my sales experience. They want you to get credit cards and memberships which are good for some people. But they’re cheapening their product by creating this membership.
